"Arrival and Departure" Angles

It is extremely important to check out the terrain before attempting any hazardous off-road driving!

Our Bushman Off-Road Trailers have covered nearly every inch of Africa, from the Cape and the Richtersveldt to Lake Turkana on the Ethiopian border, and have performed without incident! However, a successful trip depends mostly on the driver! Tackle situations that are "out of your depth" and you are looking to cause serious damage to both your vehicle and your trailer, as well as to yourselves!

It's one thing playing "silly buggers" at an obstacle course near home, and completely another when you have your family with you, and you are miles from home!

There are many very good Off-Road magazines that will cover all aspects of off-road driving, and it is well worth reading these up before a long and difficult journey.

Bushman Off-Road Trailers have tackled far more extreme situations than this, but the following few shots will give you some idea of the "angles" of arrival and departure.
Remember, the guy who throws up the least sand, mud and rocks knows how to handle a 4 x 4 !
Going into and out of deep holes should be done very slowly! This will avoid slipping and sliding as well as "whipping" the trailer through, which could cause a "roll over"!

Fairly steep "entry" angles can be accomplished, but don't do this unless you are 100% certain that you will get out the other side!

Here the Landy is entering a hole, so the trailer lifts up in the front, and goes down at the back.
Bushman Off-Road Trailers have extremely good ground clearance.

When you are in this position, you lose "sight" of the trailer! Always remember the terrain that you have "just covered" must still be done by your trailer.

"Roll over":
"Roll over" can happen when you travel "sideways" along a slope! Driving sideways on slopes should be avoided at all costs as this can be very dangerous! All vehicles, as well as trailers have a "point of no return" when it comes to roll over.
Bushman +/- 40 deg. Depending on how you have loaded your trailer! Rather don't "push your luck" !
When you start "squirming" in the driver's seat, and your knuckles start going "white", then you are already too far gone !
The old saying - "look before you leap" applies to Off-Road driving most of the time! Trailer or no trailer!
